First Visitors!

Hi everyone, it's been a while. We had my friends Pam and Grant from home with us for a week. The weather was fantastic, got in 4 beach days......."unheard of" in the last 2 years anyways. We of course went shopping FIRST "to get it out of the way"... The weather allowed us to have a big BBQ for them to meet some friends down here, and Pam and I were able to go kayaking on the Estero River, which connects to the Gulf. The guys went golfing.
We had Italian night at the clubhouse, with a hilarious magician........
Lots of fun in all..........it was nice to have friend of mine here, and show them my "1/2 Life."

Hiking in Florida

Hi everyone, just want to share some pics of my favourite hiking spot down here in Bonita Springs. Martin and I found this spot by mistake....YEAH! in our first Spring down here. It is the Estero State Reserve.......it is a wild, untouched and luckily........unattended piece of hidden land.
Some of the hike reminds me of an "African safari", another part of an "abandoned air field"...........it's ALL cool!

Our home away from home

Hi everyone, hope you are all gathering up some rest after the busy holiday.
We are just starting to get in the "mode" to start welcoming our first guests into our new home down here. My good friend Pam and her husband are coming next week, then my Mom for 6 weeks at the end of this month.....Yeeha! I can't wait!!

The weather is starting to warm up down here....high 70's. It's storming today, which is much needed, the plants are thirsty.....and it forces people to slow down, and relax a while.

 There is something for everyone here. There are 3500 people in this park, it's 1/3 the size of the town Bonita Springs, FL. 
The baseball season has started down here, for all who know....this is why people come to this park......for it's organized activities. There are so many people who work hard and volunteer their time.
Monday marked the opening of the season, which means baseball, hotdogs and beer......Mmmm!!! I had my annual chili/cheese dog. So good while watching a game! My singing group sings  the Canadian/American anthems and "Take me out to the ballgame" every opening....lot's of fun!

I attached some pics of the opening from my viewpoint between homebase and first, to give an idea of the numbers involved, there are 20 mens and 6 women's teams...all over 50. This is a joke down here for some of us under 50, we are not allowed to play.....Oh well!!  There's everything else..........Enjoy!

2011 begins

Hi everyone, hope all had a great New Years. After all of the visitors and celebrations, life is definately more quiet these last 2 days....AAHHH!!!!!
Everyone can take a much needed deep breath!

We went to our clubhouse for New Years!!....What a blast!! The music was great, we literally dansed all night.
All of the leftovers are ALMOST finished, thanks to some Canadian friends from Niagara area, returning to the park for the rest of the season.
Even though they are new friends to Martin and I, you know you are comfortable when you tell them, "we are eating holiday leftovers, if you don't mind, you're welcome to join us."........and they do, with no awkwardness of formalities.
All of the Christmas decorations have just been pulled down and put away in the shed........I always have mixed feelings when the decorations go away.......I LOVE the soft light from the tree and garland.
I hope you're all getting some much needed rest, and didn't eat too much.......or at least don't feel guilty about it...........He!He!
